Overview

IT Data Consulting (ITDC) is a well-established national consulting firm, seeks a Web Content Manager/Editor to join our highly skilled team supporting a prominent federal website. This individual will work as part of a team to manage, aggregate, curate, edit, proofread and post a variety of written content and imagery to a high-profile website. Prospective candidates should be self-driven, thrive in a fast-paced environment where accuracy is imperative, be able to handle deadline pressures with equanimity and be dedicated to producing high-quality work. A “can do” attitude and flexibility are essential, with the ability to work independently yet collaboratively in our close-knit team. This role is a full-time, salaried position. Team coverage hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., in assigned regular shifts. Additional on-call responsibilities outside of regular hours include one week night, plus scheduled rotational weekend and holiday on-call watches. The assigned workplace is Fort Meade, Md., with telework options. This position reports to the Web Content Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in any of the following fields: journalism, writing, producing, editing or communications;
  • Excellent editing, copyediting and proofreading skills with demonstrated expertise in using the AP Style Guide;
  • Experience posting web content using a content management system (includes systems based on Dot-Net-Nuke, WordPress, Wix, Adobe Experience Manager, etc.) and a basic understanding of HTML;
  • An eye for selecting imagery to complement content and the ability to crop photos and make minor edits such as adjusting brightness/contrast, using Photoshop.
  • Hold a public trust clearance or CAC, or be able to pass a security background screening.
  • Can meet all requirements for federal contractors, including drug tests and vaccinations;
  • Authorization to work for any U.S. employer.
  • Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the described duties and responsibilities. (A typical qualifying background includes a bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) and/or master’s degree in English, Journalism, Photojournalism, Communications, or a related field.)

  • Applies solid news judgment in handling and posting content in keeping with mission priorities and directives;
  • Has an inquisitive mind and takes an analytical approach to style and grammar questions, referring to appropriate style and grammar guides to ensure all copy from body text to photo captions is clean, clear, concise and accurate;
  • Triages and applies appropriate focus to assignments, switching seamlessly between multiple tasks as mission requires, an ideator who tackles and solves problems as they arise and operates with little direction;
  • Communicates effectively with the ability to interact professionally with individuals at varying levels of authority and across teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track, manage and curate content submitted for posting to the website;
  • Process and prep written content before posting, including writing, editing, copyediting, rewriting and proofreading headlines, lead sentences and photo captions;
  • Perform QA/QC checks on all content, including article copy, before and after posting;
  • Process photos that accompany articles, cropping and performing minor color corrections in accordance with provided photo editing guidelines;
  • Research and locate potential feature photos;
  • Upload content into the content management system and use templates to create visually appealing layouts;
  • Provide support to the Web Operations Manager in developing topic-focused feature pages.

Salary Range: $55,254 - 89,155
